Sarah & David are romantics. They love books and cozy evenings in, crochet projects and time spent reveling in the sweet deliciousness of family. They are warm hearted, big smilers, and all around great parents, too. I first met them a few years ago when they were planning their Milwaukee wedding and they surprised us with their combined epic sweetness. He proposed at his family lake house, which is also where she dressed for their wedding and then where I met them again to meet their first born daughter Lucy. So my delight was real and deep when they invited me back to meet their newest family addition: Ambrose. As I photographed them in lovingly crocheted-by-dad-and-mom blankets & clothes, something about it also being Christmas time filled my heart with gladness. In what I think of as the most hopeful season for Christians I was struck by the delicate skin of Ambrose, his newborn fragility, his very humanity, the unlikely miracle of life and how a baby can remind us of bigger things. Ambrose may be little but on this day his very presence is a reminder to cherish connections with other people, to take care of each other, to value a snuggle, a lullaby, a deep breath. Welcome to this world Ambrose, you are loved ~
