Heather & Connor have a story that criss crosses the country with childhoods in the midwest and college out east, but the parts of the story that spark the sweetest smiles and their hearts’ collective nostalgia often involve a lake. So on a summer day, brilliant with sunshine and the abundant foliage July in Wisconsin offers, I met them at Heather’s grandparent’s home on Pine Lake. They skimmed their toes in the super-warm water and revealed to me the boat house residence of an adorable frog. They relaxed in the adirondacks and literally kicked their shoes off to enjoy the morning. We talked about their upcoming Milwaukee Art Museum wedding (where all shoes are sure to stay on) and reveled in the contrasts between a lazy morning at the lake and their planned city wedding, albeit equally lakeside. But on this day we pushed the (happy) thoughts of couture white dresses and guys in suits to the side and decidedly focused on docks and country lanes, lilypads and shady walks. In these last few weeks before the wedding planning craziness really descends on them I think it was exactly what was needed. And oh yes, it was gorgeous, too!
