Lindsey & Ben met at Illinois Wesleyan, a small college they both attended, but where they moved in different circles, never meeting until after Ben graduated. When he tells the story of how they met one gets the very real sense that they could have missed out on one another, that fate must have taken over to make Ben listen to his dad (who insisted he go back to his alma mater that weekend). It must have been fate that made Ben stay at the Christmas party when he really wanted to leave, that led him upstairs when his goal was to get downstairs, that gave him the good sense to pretend he knew where Slinger, Wisconsin is when Lindsey said that was her home town. His version of the story goes on to show quite a bit of romantic effort on his part, waiting a week for her to finish finals just to find himself ice skating in Red Arrow Park in Milwaukee with (as he sweetly says) his future wife. While writing this blog post this morning I heard on the radio that Red Arrow Park opens for the season today. So here’s to letting oneself be guided just a bit by fate, to Christmas parties and iceskating. Here’s to love.
They’ll be getting married in Milwaukee next fall at a location just across the street from Red Arrow Park but they rightly opted to have their engagement session in their home for now – Los Angeles. My great friend and colleague Caca’, a fellow LA resident, shot their engagement session and I edited them for Ben & Lindsey. The three of them traveled from rooftop to hilltop and caught some great moments in the setting sunlight of a perfect LA afternoon. More details about the locations and history of where they shot can be found over on Caca’s concurrent post.
