After more than a year of zoom dates with couples it felt like a breath of fresh air to meet Maggie & Pat for the first time – in person – on their city walkup stoop. Just the two of them, their sweet, fluffy pup and a whole evening of yummy soft light from the west. In the end, their engagement session was less a photo session and more a kind of summer dream evening. After playing with their pup, we went for a walk in their neighborhood and meandered to a favorite city spot for gorgeous brick backgrounds and a sumptuous sunset. Katie & Alex had a winding path to their utterly gorgeous summer wedding day on Lake Michigan. Alex is an avid and talented sailor and after meeting him, Katie has taken up the sport with gusto. They originally envisioned a summer wedding by the lake that on any other day they would rather be boating on, but a shortage of available dates pushed them deep into an October calendar. Then a pandemic started. But as the old saying goes, good things are worth the wait. Skip to 2021 and that summer vision became possible again with a hop over to a Friday soiree’. And so it was: Katie & Alex were married in Milwaukee’s oldest church and celebrated under blue skies and by blue water with sail boats all around. They were embraced by the wind and their joyful friends, toasted by family and by their besties, they danced (and danced and danced) and by the end of the night they were filled to the brim with yesses: yes to sailing days and dancing nights, yes to love and partnership, yes to a lifetime of one another.
