Discovery World Indian Wedding and Barat | Joban & Sarath | Part I

modern colorful indian hindu wedding at discovery world

Indian weddings are always a riot of color and feasts for both the eyes and the tummy, but Joban and Sarath’s Milwaukee Barat and Wedding Ceremony reached epic levels of gorgeousness and joy. Their day started early as they dressed on different floors of the new Westin in Milwaukee with Sarath preparing to board a boat for his arrival at Discovery World. After being wrapped and veiled, bejeweled and hugged, Joban hid behind smoked glass overlooking the lake as a festive drumbeat heralded Sarath’s arrival on the south docks. He was met by his family and danced his way to the ceremonial threshold to be met by Joban’s family, the wedding rituals officially beginning. From there Joban and Sarath were married by a family friend, surrounded by lush and colorful blooms and most importantly, their beloved family and friends. It was a whirlwind of laughter and tears, rituals and hope, families joining together and in the middle of it all was just the two of them, Dr. & Dr. now Mr. & Mrs. holding hands and breathing in the happiness, the love, the gift that is marriage.

Wisconsin Club Wedding | Amy & Kip

I like to think that most people are pretty great – with the right people or in the right setting everyone can offer something to love. But have you ever met someone and thought This person is quite possibly the nicest gal or guy I’ve ever met? Immediately thought Can we be friends? Can we be best friends? Well, if you haven’t it’s because you haven’t met Amy & Kip – an incredible couple that fits my description x 2. They are warm and lovely and they inspire devotion among their friends and family (think best man writes and performs a song for a toast kind of devotion.) Amy and her mom are pals and confidants and The Wisconsin Club is something of a second home to them, playing host to many of their shared milestone memories like graduation parties, wedding showers and now, Amy’s wedding. Kip is also dearly close to his parents and it was tearjerking to watch his mom lay her hand on her heart and look lovingly at her son throughout the day – so obviously proud of him as a human and now as a new husband. Traditions and memories were held close all day, from the lucky penny that reminded Amy of her dad to the significant signing of an Irish Fest flag. And because they stayed so very present all day and night their wedding will live in my memory as a most delightful day, for the most delightful people. Cheers to full hearts and full lives; cheers to Amy & Kip!
