The most romantic wedding venue in Milwaukee is an easy selection for us. On the Milwaukee shores of Lake Michigan an incredible home clings to the bluff. It’s nearly 100 years old and feels both like the home that it was and the museum that it is. The Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum is an incredible venue for weddings, first looks and bridal party photos. It can be tricky to fit an entire wedding within its gorgeous, rough plaster walls, but if you can it is certainly an incredible place to host a wedding. The options for ceremony, cocktails, dinner and dancing locations on the property are numerous – we’ve shot ceremonies in the courtyard, on the terrace, and in the garden, dinner in the great hall and under the stars or under the portico of the courtyard. Without a doubt Villa Terrace is one of the most romantic wedding venues in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the Midwest.

We’ve photographed an exceptional number of weddings at the Villa and each one is different – from the light, the locations on the grounds, the vibe, the emotion. In some ways Gabrielle & Bob have a pretty straightforward how we met story – in college in Minnesota, introduced through fate and traveling in a lot of the same circles. But dig a tiny but deeper and Italy tip toes into the story, along with a little bit about playing hard to get, or maybe it was just having different priorities. Either way the story starts with studying in Rome and never really meeting each other until the end. They didn’t make much of a go of it overseas – it was too close to the end of the semester and there was too many passagiatta and gelati to enjoy with amici. But back stateside in Minnesota the story comes back into focus and they’ve been together ever since – building a life in Bob’s Minnesota and now, dreaming of cheese curds and Spotted Cow back in Gabrielle’s Wisconsin. They’ll tie the knot at the Cathedral and celebrate at Renaissance 1441, both of which speak to their obvious past and love of dramatic architecture. Like us they know that space and place mean a lot for creating the right atmosphere for love to be the center of attention. For this session they were total rock stars, braving negative wind chills to explore the snow edged lake shore and taking our word for it that we could find pretty light on a cold, cold day. Cheers to love, waiting for the right person at the right time, sassy red coats, and winter sunsets!
