Elise & Nolan were married in Milwaukee surrounded by all the best our city has to offer and this kind, warm, joyful couple offered their best right back. Elise’s day started at The Trade, the same hotel that Nolan worked on as part of the design & construction team and where he proposed to her. When we arrived Elise took a moment to look out over the city from the expansive balcony off her suite and I like to think that Nolan was doing the same at that moment, looking over the city from his getting ready spot at their reception venue The Milwaukee Athletic Club. They came together at the end of the oldest Catholic church aisle in Milwaukee at Old St Mary’s and from there it was sunshine, lakefront, rocks, docks and rooftops. They literally could not have asked for better weather or better light as the sun followed us from the stained glass windows at Old St Mary’s to the lakefront and up to the roof for a glorious sunset. Elise & Nolan are old souls and they loved everything I have described but I think what they loved most was exchanging private vows by the lake and reveling in how much joy their love has brought to their friends & families. That joy was evident when each guest arrived at the reception space and were directed to their seats by letters written to each of them with photos of the bride & groom with them from throughout the years. Such a gift from the bride and groom speaks to their willingness to put in the work in every relationship and really that is the secret to life and love, right? Find your people, put in the work, show you care and life will be sunshine all the way.
