Milwaukee Wisconsin Wedding & Family Photographer

Baby Benjamin is toddler Benjamin now and I was so very pleased to reintroduce him to my camera this month to capture a milestone birthday time in his young life. We picked the beach for the session because, well, beaches are a delightful bonus feature of Milwaukee life. But, truth be told Benjamin wasn’t all that impressed with Lake Michigan. The waves were too crashy and the wind too windy, but, on the plus side, mom was there and dad was there and hiding off camera left somewhere was grandma singing a song. In the end, Benjamin gave in and gave us a few smiles, but the best part was when he got to go back home to the cozy, bright warmth of his very own room where the books live. Next time he’s at the beach I think he’ll be able to notice the ducks and the sand and the big beautiful horizon line just a bit more but I also think he’ll still end up back in the arms of his favorite people, happy to snuggle, happy to read a book.

The best part about Lauren & Ian’s wedding day was that it was filled with all their favorite people and things. From their puppies to their families, their friends to their cocktails, their style to their music, every moment of the day was specifically Lauren & Ian. It was a destination wedding for many, including themselves who made the wedding week trip up from Tennessee. Of course it was a chance to bask in their love for one another, but really it was a chance to say thank you to everyone in their lives for believing in them, for going along with their wild plans and wilder love story, for sticking it out to this end, which is really the beginning. They’ve moved around the country together and they give off the “we’ll probably do it again” vibe, but their wedding day was a testament to the fact that their families need not worry, their friends can be happy for them, everyone can rest utterly and totally assured: these two souls have found their home and it’s wherever the other is.
