Abby & Charlie are all kinds of awesome, from their mega-watt smiles to their lovely laughs, from their great style to their easy-to-get-along-with attitudes, from their flirty demeanor with one another to their very real, very sweet love story. They grew up in different states but have found a place to call home together in Tosa, not to mention their shared love of all things Door County. It feels a lot like home up there, too, so they are planning a fall wedding amongst the cherry trees and Great Lake beaches. They are thrilled to have the chance to invite all of their friends and family to share a weekend of warm, rustic elegance with them in one of their favorite places on Earth. But for now these two skiers, best friends, and soul mates are enjoying the snow and the slow(er) pace of life that January offers, catching a breath and holding hands, enjoying every second they can together before the real craziness of wedding planning hits this summer. So today I invite you to take a breath with them and vicariously enjoy this winter walk on a gorgeous day.

Andrea & Jake are the kind of couple that deftly manages to be both traditional and adventurous or, maybe its that they are both practical and spontaneous, a clever combination that makes life together just that much sweeter. They live in South Carolina, a spot they picked for the change and the challenge, and its led to wonderful growth in their personal lives and in their careers. They originally planned for a June wedding but venue restoration and lagging timelines meant they had to quickly pivot to August and a whole new spot. But pivot they did and their resiliency got them through to what we are certain has ended up to be the best wedding plan for them anyway. So while back in town for family visits and a wee bit of party planning, they met up with Sara for a gorgeously sunny session and chance to explore the city that is their home away from home. In the end a little lakeside meander turned into craft cocktails at Boone & Crocket and it was clear to see that whether its this or that, as long as they are together everyday is pretty perfect.

Is there anything better than happy kiddos at the beach? Maybe add in some smitten parents and a sunny day in fall? Well, take all of that and add in the fact that the two parents in question have been inviting us to photograph them for nearly a decade (gah!) and you have a dream family session on the shores of Lake Michigan. Close to the home where Jamie grew up and at the beach she spent many grades school years playing at was where I met them on this gorgeously bright day. I couldn’t help but note that yes, Jamie and Dan clearly still delight in just being with one another but equally great is that they delight, by turns, in corralling, tickling and chasing after their babes. Being with them is a little wild and totally wonderful, which also happens to be the best way I know how to describe their amazing little fam. Cheers to happy dads and happy moms. Cheers to full hearts and full hands. Cheers to beach days and most of all, cheers to little girls.
