Brittany & Chris | Third Ward Mini Engagement Session

Brittany & Chris met in St Louis and live in New York, but their wedding will be an entirely midwestern affair, as they host their nearest and dearest at Milwaukee’s iconic Art Museum. That modern, lakefront, exquisite venue promises to be warm and inviting for their summer wedding, but truth be told Brittany and Chris bring the warmth with them anywhere they go – even to Wisconsin on a winter day. Back in town for the holidays, Brittany & Chris met up with Sara & her camera for a walk about, a sweet get to know you session in the Third Ward that confirmed everything we suspected about the two of them: Brittany & Chris are a great couple that clearly can’t wait to be husband and wife, and we are all in for them and their happily ever after.

Theo is 1 | Winter Family Photography at Bishop’s Bay

Abby & Dillon have relied on us to photograph their family for many years – from the moment it was created by their wedding vows – up to this turn-of-the-decade when their darling babe celebrated his first year of life. And to be there with them to mark the importance of this time and the incredible consistency (and yet, the growth) of their love and choice in family is an honor. Their baby Theo was adorable as a newborn and irresistibly sweet at a few months old, but as a 1 year old he’s clearly coming into his own. He loves his dog and to test out walking, but he loves his mama and dada most. He looks good in sweaters and caps, often matches his parents’ impeccable style, but most of all his big blue eyes will stun an onlooker into staring. And so, on a winter day in quiet pine forest Theo and family went for a walk with me, their dog and a lot of love. We meandered by the lake at Bishop’s Bay and tried out some new walking skills. Theo laughed and mom & dad melted into his cuddles. It was simple and safe and all together the loveliest way to spend a winter day.

Stephanie & Louis | Pritzlaff November Wedding

milwaukee november wedding day

Stephanie & Louis’ November wedding in Milwaukee was all kinds of elegant, but it was also steeped in romance and fall wonderment. We loved the way Stephanie & Louis weren’t afraid of color – from the something blue Badgley Mischka’s that Stephanie wore to the bright, peppy florals she carried, from the yellow-leaved tree branch centerpieces to the spots of rich blue that the bridal party sported so stylishly. But what we really loved is how Louis melted into Stephanie’s arms during their first look, how she lit up with smiles when she looked at him, how their friends in the bridal party clearly adored being a part of their wedding story. We really loved how so many things included in the design of the day weren’t things, but rather references and connections to their favorite people in the world. The iconic Pritzlaff clock in the reception space recalled Stephanie’s Zadie’s (dad’s dad) life work as a clock and watch fixer while their officiant was clearly a mentor to Stephanie and a friend to them both. A childhood friend blessed and cut the challah and even the hairpiece in Stephanie’s hair was once worn by her sister on her own wedding day. I guess you could say that what we really, really loved was that on a day filled with tradition and family, and in total celebration of what came before, Stephanie and Louis made something new – their own family – and vowed to honor it, protect it, and on this day: celebrate it.
