Aiday & Loong | Pfister & Milwaukee Art Museum Fusion Wedding | Tea Ceremony + Kyrgyz Ceremony + Art Museum Wedding

Aiday & Loong are passionate about many things, a short list of which has to include travel, food, friendship, cooking and most of all – one another. Within a few moments of meeting them it is easy to see how much they love each other, their kindness and caring a palpable thing that propels any encounter towards contentment. Their wedding day started with two ceremonies that honored their family histories and traditions, a Chinese style Tea Ceremony followed by a traditional Kyrgyz one. And then it was onto the Museum where they exchanged rings and performed a spice ceremony to signify their ultimate union. Like the spices they poured into a carafe their day truly blended their past, present and future so beautifully. And I must write that on their wedding day many endearing stories were shared about them by their loved ones, but one that stuck with me was told by Loong himself. Asked why these two world travelers living in Chicago decided to have their wedding at the Milwaukee Art Museum he acknowledged the world class architecture, delicious catering, proximity to the lake we all love and a close by airport for all their national & international friends and family but then he said something like this. Early in their relationship they traveled to Milwaukee for a long weekend, the first of many explorations together, and when Aiday saw the Museum she took a deep, surprised breath and wondered at how romantic it would be to get married there. Loong kept that simple, honest statement by her close to his heart. And as his heart grew to be totally and utterly hers a MAM wedding seemed like fate and kismet and Meant To Be all wrapped into one. Which is to say, just like Aiday & Loong – fate and kismet and Meant To Be all wrapped into one.

Allison & Joe | Pabst Brewery Fall Wedding

We first met Allison & Joe on the southern side of the Illinois/Wisco border for their snowy engagement session and even then it was obvious that these two have a thing for fun and family, cuddles and treats. But on their wedding day in Milwaukee they stunned us with their ability to ramp up every category to 11 on the goodness scale. Their Best Place at Pabst Brewery wedding was full of so many of our favorite things: sunshine, colorful leaves, pop top Blue Ribbon, spicey guest favors, happy tears, old fashioneds, a courtyard ceremony, cuddly blankets, emotional toasts, wild dancing, and oh yes, silver streamers. They kept their family close all day, including asking parents to read and officiate during their ceremony. They kept the atmosphere light and lovely with the best walk down the aisle we’ve ever seen. They kept each other hand in hand all day and night and in the end the whole experience was transformative not only for them, but also for their family who basically happy cried through the whole thing. Ultimately their wedding was a testament to family, a meditation on choosing love and a gift to everyone involved.

Heather & Connor | Milwaukee Art Museum October Wedding

milwaukee art museum fall wedding during blue hour

Heather & Connor are two of the kindest souls we had the total pleasure of photographing this amazing year. They are from the midwest but met at University of Pennsylvania where she was a track athlete and he played baseball. Their story involves video games and football games but never any games between the two of them. Once they found each other it was always real, and sincere, and lovely, and an all out Love Story. And while their lives aren’t in Milwaukee these days, the iconic Art Museum on Lake Michigan feels (and is) close to where their hearts are so they decided to tie the knot under the soaring wings of Windhover Hall on an October day. And call it fate or coincidence, but either way how cool is it that a baby version of Philadelphia’s LOVE sculpture by Robert Indiana now lives in the MAM permanent Collection, too? Surrounded by friends, family and teammates from across the country they celebrated with a little rain, a lot of fun, a jaunt to the LOVE sculpture, and the most gorgeous sunset we’ve seen this side of June. Heather & Connor are the definition of love and their wedding of loveliness – so grab a glass of wine and take some notes: this is how a wedding between two soulmates is done ~
