Lindsey & Bennett traveled back from LA to Lindsey’s home state of Wisconsin for their September wedding and hosted a day that was a charming mix of small town and big city, life before they met and after, elegant and preppy. Lindsey is from a small town north of the city of Milwaukee and they tied the knot in her home church. The timber and stone building framed their I Dos perfectly as it lent an air of intimacy and homecoming befitting the start of a marriage and a life together. They laughed and joked their way through the day , happy to be surrounded by their friends from grade school, college and life in general. I loved the design of their day and how it moved between wedding chic and wedding fun, always personalized to their tastes. Bright, delicate flowers dotted the day with splashes of pink, while navy pocket squares and table cloths brought a sweet masculine energy to the atmosphere of the reception. In lieu of favors they donated to an ALS charity in honor of a family friend – Steve – and Lindsey’s shoes weren’t just blue, they also matched her mom’s. Before they moved to LA Bennett & Lindsey shared a little Milwaukee history, including their first date and engagement – stories I detailed in their engagement session post. One part of the story I haven’t told yet is how just moments after Bennett proposed a street protest engulfed them and they were surrounded by folks with signs, chanting in support of something Lindsey & Bennett never quite identified. To commemorate the excitement and perfect oddity of that moment they “staged” a mock protest between the wedding and reception – this time in support of something they could totally identify with – to their marriage, to Lindsey & Ben, to happily ever after.
My associate photographer Caca’ shot their engagement session in LA and traveled to Wisconsin to capture the big day too and I adore every moment as seen through her eyes. Enjoy.
