The first time I photographed Kimmie & Steve we were in Milwaukee where we explored the city and played around with shadows and sunshine for their engagement session. But on their wedding day it was all sunshine and lake views, walks on the docks and playful adventures with their parents and friends along for the ride. I knew Kimmie and Steve were “default to a smile” kind of people, but I wasn’t totally prepared for the emotional and utterly joyful way their wedding day would play out. In creating this blog post I had to search for images where Steve was even looking at anything other than Kimmie because he was so present with her all day. I was moved by the look on his face when she walked to him on the lawn at The Abbey, the look on his face when she walked down the aisle to him at the church, the look on his face when they ate their favorite Lake Geneva treat together (Kilwin’s ice cream), the look on his face when he dipped her spontaneously in front of the iconic Riviera Fountain; well folks, the list goes on an on. In fact, I’ve never seen a happier groom than Steve and Kimmie certainly knows what she has in him, as do all of their parents who so gladly, faithfully and proudly helped them tie the knot with toasts and hugs and sing-alongs, and even some happy tears. And now, I can say without a doubt, Kimmie & Steve are not just “default to a smile” people they are the the luckiest kind of people who smile because they are wonderfully, deeply in love.
