Everyone can pretty much agree that babies are miraculous, but after a year like 2020, I am putting it out there that if you want to feel better about the world, go hold a baby. I met newborn Colson at home in Tosa this May and his soft cheeks, tiny feet, even tinier fingernails, and natural ability to make adults feel needed meant that he proved my hypothesis. He wasn’t particularly sleepy and really needed to be cuddled to be happy, but that was wonderfully, perfectly ok, better than ok, actually. Snuggled up in his dad’s arms or tucked under his mama’s chin was the place to be and we rolled with it, finding pockets of gorgeous bungalow light in his cozy home as he stayed close to a heartbeat. It was adorable and sweet and exactly what we need right now.
