Milwaukee Art Museum & Cathedral Wedding | Chantal & Travis

Chantal & Travis’ love story criss crosses the country from California to Wisconsin, from the southwest to the northeast. It spans graduate school and new jobs, long nights doing doctoral research and fleeting days together with family. It includes references to Cleopatra and cheese curds and at least one song on the sound track has to be Nelly’s AirForce Ones. And in August in Milwaukee they shared their love story with all of their many friends and family from around the world and they built upon their history together to really, truly start the future they’ve been dreaming about. We adored their style choices and their details, that their collective sense of fun and adventure was clearly a part of their wedding day design, but the best part of Chantal & Travis’ wedding day was this: In the middle of all the (happy) chaos and sweet toasts, in the middle of an at times frenetic Coptic christian marriage ceremony and a totally-lit-never-empty dance floor there was just Chantal & Travis, adoring one another and soaking up every second of the weekend. Their lives are not simple, or still, or easily described in a sentence, but their love is: Chantal and Travis are partners, life loves, best friends and so very, very happy.

Oliver & Family at Discovery World

Oh how I love young families – families with babies and toddlers and stuffed animals and big hearts. This family, though, is one of the special ones I’ve been honored to photograph many times from engagement session to newborn sessions and all the sweet milestones in between. And on this day our delightful reunion was made all the more happy by the fact that Oliver – health challenged, feeding tube and body cast newborn Oliver – is now running, laughing, keep up with sister Charlotte Oliver. With the bluest eyes that look smart beyond their months and the cheekiest cheeks, Oliver is a bubbly little guy who loves to snuggle and play and oh how he loves to run that way, and over there and to see that and back into mama’s arms. Also special to me is that we did this session in and around the Discovery World concourse where I photographed mom and dad’s wedding ceremony. And so we hid from the wind and played on the deck boards to celebrate Oliver and his growth. We chatted about how great Oliver and Charlotte are both doing in this crazy world and we talked about how time flies. Happy One Year Oliver. You are loved.
