Kiley & Matt | Chicago Engagement Session

In many ways, Kiley & Matt are a study in contrasts. He’s a numbers guys in love with her…and his hometown Cubbies. She works with hearts and health in mind and prefers heels to baseball hats. But together Kiley & Matt have a kind of magic that speaks to that old saying – everything is better when shared with the one you love. So they are each other’s biggest fan and best friend, up for downtown adventures or Wrigleyville walks or lake house weekends and come next summer, a Wisconsin summer wedding. But on this day it was all about enjoying the fleeting days of fall in Chicago and loving every second of their time in the city they call home, hand in hand.

Jojo & Stephen | Classic Pfister Hotel Wedding

Stephen & Jojo are so incredibly loved. Not only do they love one another – wonderfully, ardently, wholly – they are beloved by their parents, many friends and, after their wedding weekend filled all those around them with a sense of awe and delight, a few photogs I know, too. They have been gifted much in life and they use the knowledge of those gifts as a motivator to do more for others, to be kinder than expected, to be grateful, always grateful and even when it seems impossible, to be ever more grateful. Stephen is from Pennsylvania and Jojo is a hometown Milwaukeean, but they share a mutual passion for Wisconsin sports and their story starts (more or less) with Madison Tennis and wanders through Milwaukee’s Old World Third Street, onto a whirlwind week falling in love before she moved to NY, and back around to building careers in medicine and broadcasting before settling here, on the weekend where they became a family in their own right. And man-oh-man do they have the most amazing examples of what family can be to model their own after. They come from wonderful ones that adore them and that they adore, the kind of families where a grandpa can be your best friend and a sister-in-law pretty quickly drops the in-law part. Where moms and dads beam with pride when they talk about their children and where tradition and faith are embraced and wholly celebrated. And so, it was no surprise that Jojo & Stephen’s wedding day was a stunningly beautiful affair where the overflowing amount of orchids (almost) matched the love in the room and where every elegant and delightful detail was as considered as they are considerate. I can’t imagined a couple more worthy of the experience that Stephen & Jojo’s team designed for and with them; in short, it was an epic day for an epic love story.

Alefiyah & Nathan | Turner Hall & Southshore Pavilion Wedding Celebration

Alefiyah & Nathan are the kind of people that make me believe in the concept and existence of Old Souls. It doesn’t take too much time around them to understand that they are all of the “hearted” descriptors: warm-hearted, big-hearted, kind-hearted. And while I know that they are blushing sternum to hairline as they read this I have to write one more totally awesome, totally true thing about them because it pretty much defines them AND the atmosphere of their fusion wedding ceremony at Southshore Pavilion and celebration at Turner Hall.

Being around Alefiyah & Nathan feels like standing in the sun, or being wrapped in a hug, or maybe dancing with a friend.

And it was our total pleasure and honor to be a part of their wedding weekend where they did all of those things, many times. Their wedding was by turns traditional and modern, all about family and all about them, old school and new school. Fire fighter Nathan’s Baraat was loud and fun and marked by his arrival on a Milwaukee Fire Department Engine while Alefiyah dressed at home with her close friends and mother. Their two part wedding ceremony started as a Muslim Nikah Ceremony and ended as a tying of the knot officiated by Alefiyah’s brother. And then, before dancing and toasting the night away at the always cool and surprising Turner Hall, Alefiyah and Nathan spent a few quiet moments at the beach, boldly stepping into the water together. Their day and night was lovely and loving, a total tribute to their long history together and the long future that waits for them. It was like standing in the sun while being wrapped in a hug and then dancing with a friend. It was perfect.
